Information about our kennel, our "doglife" and how we became interested in breeding Flatcoated retrievers.

My name is Annica and together with my husband Anders I run kennel Miss Mallorys. . We have three children, Jennifer, Samuel and Lisa. We live at Karlslund in Oskarström, a place about 15 kilometres from Halmstad.

When I was about ten years old I started to exercise all the dogs in the neighborhood. My parents were not so interested in dogs. I had to wait until I was eighteen before I could buy my first dog. He was a golden retriever called Baloo. He was followed by more goldens, I got interested in showing and obedience training.

I wanted to have puppies of my own so I applied for a kennelname. After many ifs and buts I finally got the name Miss Mallorys. Unfortunately it took some years before I could use it, because of skeletondefects in my golden bitches.

I met my husband Anders at the local dog club. At that time he had a leonberger called Bamse. We went to kennel Almanza to get my first flatcoated retriever Yatzy (Almanza Taken by Surprise). Yatzy became an excellent breedingbitch, she has had many lovely and healthy puppies. Anders got a Belgian Shepherd (tervueren) called Falco. They got very succesful in obedience and as a bonus from our breeder we got another tervueren called Jackpot.

With Yatzy, Falco and Jackpot we were very succesful in obedience and tracking and won among other things the Swedish Championship.

Anders and I are both educated at SBK (the swedish institution for working dogs), Anders is a teacher and I am a referee and instructor.

We are very interested in hunting, in the autumn we try to retrieve with our dogs about once a week.

Mostly we hunt ducks and pheasants.

Breeding goals

When it comes to breed puppies, we belive that the best for our puppies is growing up in a natural home enviroment. Our puppies spends their first eigth weeks in life in our home, we don´t belive in keeping them in a doghouse or similar.

We try to breed healthy, mental firm and exterior well shaped dogs. We test our puppies at seven weeks age. We also strive for all of our puppies to be mentaly tested at the age of twelve to eighteen months.We try to deliever our puppies to homes where the dogs will be working. The type of work is not that important as long as the dog gets to use his or hers brain.
